We Are Flying Solo

November 13, 2010

Best Mail Day. Ever.

OMG OMG OMG!  So I get home from the conference today and pull a handful out of the mailbox.  The first envelope I opened had...THIS!  Beautimous giant purple ribbon, apparently our final placing in the Adult Team Challenge was 7th (I like purple better than green anyway!) so hooray for all of us on Team Nuts To You!

Yes, I got it, the special surprise I warned you about earlier. This completely totally awesome awesomeness is brought to you thanks to Heads Up! Helmet Cams, who hooked us UP at VHT so I could finally get video to share with you! So hang on, gang, you are now...

Flying Solo!!!

  1. WOW!!!!! I am at work, so no sound and it stopped halfway through, but WEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!! I can't wait to see the rest of it! I think I would get lost on that course, all open and everything, that is SOOO neat!

  2. AWESOME! Congrats on the ribbon and thanks for sharing the video. I loved the sound of the wind whistling by and it seemed like pretty much an effortless run for you both.

  3. That was too cool! Only the second XC helmet cam I've seen and this was so fun to watch Solo's ears.

Way to go and thanks for sharing!

  4. OH OH OH, I was so excited I forgot to breathe!

You know you are making me want to do this! I wonder if a little Arab could do cross country this effortlessly.

  5. Run, Solo, run!! :-) Lol, you guys are the next Peter & Henny.
That looked like an absolute BLAST!! And how cool that you got to capture it all from your own point of view, right behind those swiveling red ears.
I agree with Alana, though, I would get totally lost on a course like that, considering the fact that I need directions, a compass, & a GPS just to find my way out of a paper bag.
Congrats!! Next year, we wanna see the T3D Solo helmet-cam!

  6. That's so cool!! I really want a helmet cam! I would definitely get lost on a course like that, where did all the pathways go?! I love how Solo's ears keep flicking back to you, so cute!

  7. Thank you!!! I wish I could post the high res version that is on the DVD, it is SPECTACULAR, but it would take ten years to upload!

It was a tough course to navigate because many of the jumps were out of line of sight, very tricky. Now you know why I walked it four times instead of my usual one!!!

lh, I would never spill the beans. Although, with Pete's energy conservation credo, picking up his feet so many times might be seen as an intrusion upon his life philosophy.

Frizz, we are shooting to qualify for T3D in 2012 -- if you get to see a helmet cam of that, then I will be so freaking excited I'll probably crap myself.

  8. That was amazing! I'm glad I'm not the only one who talks to my horse on course. You guys rocked that course!

  13. I just showed this to my mom, she is VERY impressed with you guys! She flinched over a couple of the jumps "they are HUGE!" and complemented how smoothly you ride, and how well Solo listens to you!
She is a much better rider than me, maybe it will be HER and Bails eventing, instead of me! Lol!

  14. Oh Alana, tell her thank you, that is so sweet of her to say!!! I think the both of you should come out and ride with us an at event next spring!

  15. Incredible! Thanks for the ride, I can't even begin to imagine how fantastic it feels, but this does give a glimpse!

  16. AWESOME! I love the cam - it made me feel like I was on the course with you. I have a tennessee walker but love to look at the cross country/eventers. I believe you and Solo are doing very well and are way past average and almost to Spectacular. Be sure to tell Solo that (LOL) I visit your blog often and love it - keep up the good work
