We Are Flying Solo

February 27, 2011

Bad Boy's Back!

It was 72 degrees today (don't hate the player...) so I decided some jumping was in order!  Which of course meant I had the perfect excuse to try out the new helmet cam.  So, the end result after two hours of fidgeting with the crappy software it came with?  Your 18 seconds of entertainment...

No, I have not yet figured out how to make it fit within the column. Or how to upload it to our YouTube channel. Or how to even truly crop the video. Or how to make it not sound like there is a hurricane on my helmet. Thus far, we can only get it onto the camera manufacturer's website, sigh... Baby steps.

While Solo did get very tired quickly, his stride felt good and his jump felt GREAT. He was rounding and using his back end to get over the fence again and seemed comfortable even hopping through a bounce. Oh, I hope this is only the start of good things to come!

suma and Alana -- I don't know, I'm still trying to figure out how to get the damn thing on YouTube. Grrr. Does the video just not load or can you not even see the box?

  5. OH - SO FUN! I can't wait to get riding again! It's killing me! Can't wait to see more. How does it attach to your helmet? Does your head feel top heavy not? Haha :-)

  6. PN -- no top heavy head, I can't even tell it is there. To put it on my schooling helmet, since it's just plastic, there's a clip that just sticks on with adhesive. I'll buy a strap for the pretty helmet though.

  8. There's a box with a bit of your schooling area and Solo's ears at the bottom that says "Jump Schooling Feb 2011 posted by eventer79 47 views" but when I click (or double-click) on it nothing happens. I also tried right-clicking, but none of the options look useful.

  9. Dang, suma. I am working on software issues -- the file format the camera uses is of course compatible with ZERO software on my computer and the software that came with the camera sucks donkey balls and appears to have been written by high skateboarders.

  11. Very cool! I want one but I would have to delete all the footage of looking at the ground, my hands, the horse's ears etc etc.

  12. Welcome to the frequent fliers club, SB!

Barbara, LOL, I have to remember not to talk when the thing is on, I sound like a 12 year old.

  14. My babbling with a regular camera is embarrassing enough, I cannot FATHOM the random soundtrack that a helmet cam would reveal during my rides. Thankfully, helmet video of training/1st level dressage and lots of tweeeennnty meeeeter cirrrrcles remains boring. :) so the world is safe from me.

Love the clip! SO fun. (and fancy!)

It was around 80 here on Sunday. I was up at Pine Top to watch the Advanced horse trials. There are definitely some benefits to living in the south!
