We Are Flying Solo

April 26, 2010

It's Official!

I got this little treasure in the mail today!  I unashamedly confess to a SQUEE! of delight when I opened the envelope.  Solo is now recorded in the annals of forever and ever as a real, honest-to-god, card-carrying, log-jumping, event horse!

PS  To the two other people who have registered horses by the name "Solaris," well, I don't know you but I will confidently assure you that mine is the bestest one ever, so you should probably go ahead and just change your horses' names now so they do not develop a complex about being unable to live up to His Shininess.  Not that I am, ahem, biased or anything.  Nope, not even a teensy bit.  Really.

  3. I will join in the squeeing! And your PS completely cracked me up! Good thing my pony has an unusual name because otherwise I would need disclaimers like that! Isn't it fun to own the shiniest ponies in the world??

  4. Yipee! I totally understand your excitement, although I'm not sure why we get so excited about such things, lol.

  5. Totally off topic, but if I remember right, you have used boots on Solo when trail riding, right? What kind do you like? I'm looking into getting boots for Mr. Painty Poo to wear for trail-riding with hubby. Any recommendations?

  6. Thanks, Breathe! Haha, Jen, shiny ponies rock!! Amanda, I too was mystified as to why I was so excited as well; I think it was in large part to the fact that I didn't know he would get his very own card.

Jen -- let's see if I can do this short: I used and liked the EasyBoot Epics. They just didn't work well on Solo's front feet because he forges, so at the canter, he'd pull them off. They were PERFECT on his back feet though. Overall, very easy to work with, durable, but you MUST have an accurate fit. If we ever went back to boots on the front, which I don't think will be possible for him, but...it'd have to be a different design, maybe the Renegades? I haven't tried those though and I know the fit is finiky on them, three weeks of hoof growth can throw them off.
